God give us strength to see your needs and do your will.
These are exciting though challenging times. There is a war, not just a war in Yugoslavia, but a war in the spirit as well. No one would ever imagine that the American Government would be coming to the aid of the persecuted Muslims.

This must truly be the test of a Godly Nation, that test of caring for the poor and needy, not of our own house, but of the house of God. Not just Christians, but anyone of any nation, or any belief which are being oppressed.

My brother, God rest his soul, was a member of the 101st Airborn Division, United States Army. He was very proud of his insignia which he wore every time he put his uniform on. The words proclaimed him one of the liberators of the oppressed. Not just a soldier of the United States Army, but more, and more significant than any National allegiance, but one of a social significance which spanned all religions, peoples and nations, a liberator of the oppressed.

Though we often fail as Christians, just as my brother often failed as a liberator of the oppressed, it is fundamentally sound to reach for the highest of any physical goal, that of laying down your life for someone else.

As Christians in Vietnam, we represent our country, our nation, our national interests, only secondarily to our beliefs in our God and the higher calling which is to liberate, for ever, the oppressed. It is key for us now, as we minister to international students from around the world, to show love, kindness and compassion. Pray for us as we seek God’s highest calling in all that we do.
Pray also for the opportunity for us to travel to the war torn lands where we might be a part of caring for the refugees. Refugees of war, not just with guns, but in the spirit.
